Light, Light, Light
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5, ESV
Did you know there is no measure of darkness? You can measure light but you cannot measure darkness. Darkness is simply an absence of light.
Didn’t Jesus say He is the light of the world? Didn’t Jesus say His light is in you? Knowing that, what implications does it have on your life? Why do we still choose to live in darkness?
Christ is longing to shine into our hearts and our lives. His desire is to permeate the darkest places of our heart and overflow into world around us. People should be drawn to the light inside of us. The problem is, most of us live as if the verse says, “the light shines in the darkness, but there’s still a lot of darkness.” Sure, there’s darkness everywhere. So what? You are the light. Darkness simply cannot measure against that.
“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8, ESV
The only thing that limits how much light you receive is you. It’s time to receive and become the light He has freely given.
Abba Father, I choose to live in light. May darkness flee within me and around me. I ask that you would shine ever brighter into me, Father of Lights. Amen.
Question: Are you living with Christ’s power or fearing the darkness?
